Counterpoint in the poetry of Abu Nawas
Abstract
Given the contradictory atmosphere that Abu Nawas lived in, between the bliss of life that he enjoyed by indulging in wine, drunkenness, and luxury at court, and the misery and deprivation that the people were experiencing, as well as his personal freedom from the restrictions of society, he faced a lot of contradictions in his neighbourhood. He is a liberal person who aspires to fall in love And he used it freely in the event that society was against him and his aspirations. This aspect was reflected in his poetry in the form of counterpoint, and its manifestations may be multiple in his poetry. We find the word multiple meanings in the poetry of Abu Nawas, so we find counterpoint divided into nominal counterpoint, actual counterpoint, and literal counterpoint, as we study. Actual counterpoint Positive and negative counterpoint.
