Social lssues in the Iraqi Novel

Abstract

This study attempts to shed light on the novel “The Maker of Cups” to reveal the most prominent social issues with their various manifestations that this novel carries, as the social issue is one of the most important contents that Maytham Hashim tried to highlight in his novel, taking his Iraqi society as an image of him. He derived its subject from the heart of reality; because the novel is a literary genre capable of penetrating the depths of society and monitoring all its aspects, suffering, ambitions and pains, in addition to monitoring the rapid transformations in the current reality; because the novelist is not separated from the various data of his era and his interaction with the products of that stage of wars, sieges and many repercussions that affected society and were reflected in the cultural system of the writer

The contexts that reveal our social experience are the starting point for our view of society. From here, the hidden and profound ways in which the individual lives, which influence his or her personal experience, emerge. The individual and society are in a state of constant communication and interaction, with each party influencing the other. This is what prompted us to study the most prominent social issues in narrative texts.
