The Effect of Using Micro-Learning on Motivation and the Acquisition of Some Mobile Applications' Programming Skills among Higher Education Students

Abstract

The current study aimed to determine the effect of using micro-learning on the acquisition of some mobile application programming skills and motivation among higher education students. The current study used the one-group quasi-experimental approach. The sample of the current study consisted of (37) enrolled male students who were selected randomly. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher built an achievement test in some mobile application programming skills and developed a measure of motivation toward learning. Their validity and reliability were verified. The study attempted to explore whether there is an impact of using micro-learning on the acquisition of some mobile application programming skills, and to determine the level of learning motivation among higher education students. The results of the study indicated that there were statistically significant differences in the averages of the total score for the experimental group between the pre- and post-measurements of the achievement test due to the use of micro-learning, and the results were in favor of the post-measurement. The results of the study also indicated that the level of students’ motivation towards learning as a result of using micro-learning was at an average rating level. The study recommended generalizing the use of the micro-teaching strategy because of its clear positive impact on students’ acquisition of some mobile application programming skills.
