This study examines the role of grammatical structures in supporting technical college trainees’ use of English in professional contexts that require clarity and accuracy. It aims to analyze the grammatical structures included in the grammar exercises of Technical English 1 (Units 1–6) and to identify their frequency and distribution across the textbook. The study is guided by two questions: what grammatical structures are presented, and how they are distributed across the units. A descriptive analytical approach based on quantitative content analysis was adopted. The sample consisted of all grammar exercises in the first six units, which were selected as the unit of analysis. A content analysis checklist was used to classify grammatical structures, and frequencies and percentages were calculated. Reliability was verified using Holsti’s formula, yielding a coefficient of 0.89. The findings showed that the units contained 47 grammar exercises, with a higher emphasis on functional structures such as the present simple, imperatives, and the verb be, while more complex structures appeared less frequently. The results also indicated an uneven distribution of grammar exercises across units, with a concentration in the earlier ones. The study concludes that the textbook reflects a functional orientation aligned with technical needs; however, the imbalance in distribution may limit systematic exposure. It recommends designing supplementary activities and suggests further research on similar textbooks and ESP contexts.
